How Do I Enroll in Baraboo Hills Elementary School?
Enrollment for the charter school will happen at the same time as the Baraboo District’s Kindergarten enrollment. The Enrollment process begins at the Baraboo Civic Center on April 11th, anytime from 7:30am - 5:30pm.You will be required to bring a copy of your child's birth certificate (only to show, not to hand over), and their immunization history (a waiver is available if the child hasn't been immunized). Parents wishing to enroll in the charter school should specify this as they register.
First, second and third graders who are currently NOT enrolled in the Baraboo school district (I.E. Home Schooled, Private School, etc.), wishing to enter the charter school in 2007, will follow the same process as the Kindergarteners. If the child is already enrolled in the school district, you will need to express your desire to be enrolled at the charter school in writing to Susan Sprecher ssprecher@baraboo.k12.wi.us or call (608) 355-3955. Please do this no later that April 11th to ensure you are included in the student lottery selection.
Undecided? It’s a good idea to register in Baraboo Hills Charter School even if you are undecided. When we have registered more children than the number of openings available, there will be a lottery to determine which students will be able to attend. Registering on April 11th will assure your child’s place in that lottery and on the beginning of the waiting list should your child’s name not be drawn. This leaves the options for your child's education open. If for some reason you choose for your child
not to attend Baraboo Hills, you can easily make the change to a traditional
school at any time.
Families choosing to switch their enrollment to the charter school (if they change their mind after April 11th) will need to contact ssprecher@baraboo.k12.wi.us or call (608) 355-3955 to request a change. She will ask for that request in writing, and will relay the necessary details.
